To-Go Box Program
Fill It Forward
To minimize our reliance on single-use plastics, we have a reusable to-go box program through Fill it Forward. Fill it Forward allows students to check out to-go boxes and check them back in during their next visit to the dining hall. This program minimizes our single-use plastics while also encouraging reuse and circularity at the College of Charleston.
How the program works:
- Download the Fill it Forward app and sign up with your CofC email address.
- Once you log in, select College of Charleston.
- To borrow a to-go box from one of our all-you-care-to-eat establishments, Liberty St. Food Hall and City Bistro, tap your Cougar Card at the front desk and ask the cashier for a to-go box.
- Open the Fill it Forward app and click 'Borrow' at the bottom right. Then scan the QR code on the to-go box that the cashier provides.
- Once the to-go box is checked out, you can fill it at any station within the location for carry-out.
- Your app will show that you have that container checked out and you can have a maximum of two checked out at one time for free.
- Once you are done with the container, wipe out any food residue and bring it back to the dining hall to be cleaned.
- To check the container back in, you will scan the 'Return' QR code that is placed near the cashier.
- The app will then prompt you to scan the box's QR code to confirm which box is being returned. Once you see a blue checkmark in the app, you show the cashier and your check-in is complete!
