Showcasing Our Local Partner Relationships
Started by the Coastal Conservation League, Growfood Carolina's goal is to create a stronger rural economy, create jobs, and connect farm businesses to the local food market. We at the Charleston Culinary Group source our farmers market items and a portion of our produce through Growfood Carolina. They also sometimes come to speak with students about the work they are doing and to teach about what they are doing for the community.
With any excess food from our residential dining locations, we prioritize donating it to One80 place, a local non-profit organization trying to end homelessness in Charleston.
The Cougar Pantry is a student led organization whose goal is to combat food insecurity. We partner with them often during our farmers markets and donate food every semester to help our students access food on campus.
Through Growfood Carolina, we are able to connect students with many different local farms and businesses.
